Helicopters
Some jobs need a helicopter: spraying country a plane can't work, mustering, baiting, and drying a cherry crop after rain.
Spraying
Helicopters spray crops and pasture, and are also used on steep or broken country. For wet paddocks and smaller blocks, see drone spraying.
Mustering
Helicopters are used for aerial mustering, and fixed-wing aircraft on some flat, open country. A grazier can muster by drone only on their own property and within sight of the drone.
Wild dog and feral pig baiting
The national procedure for aerial wild dog baiting names helicopters for rough country and precise placement, and fixed-wing aircraft for flatter country. In New South Wales, feral pig baits approved for aerial use can only be laid by helicopter.
Cherry drying
After heavy rain before harvest, a helicopter hovers low over the trees so the downwash blows the water off the fruit.
