Aerial Spraying to Combat Fall Armyworm in Cornfields

Cornfields in the region were being completely decimated by a fall armyworm infestation. This pest, when evolved into a moth, is capable of flying up to 500 kilometres in a single day, spreading rapidly and causing extensive crop damage.

In situations where accessing the affected fields is challenging, the most efficient and effective solution is to spray insecticide from the air. Aerial spraying ensures comprehensive coverage, especially in large and remote areas.

Our drones are capable of covering up to 10 hectares per hour, with application rates of up to 35 litres per hectare. Operating at an altitude of just 3 metres above the ground ensures precise and targeted spraying. The combination of a back-and-forth flight pass and the downdraft generated by the propellers enhances spray penetration through the crop, maximising the kill rate of this  insect.

This approach provides a swift, effective response to infestations, protecting crops and minimising further damage caused by this highly destructive pest.
